About this network

ICD is ICD Group, Inc. of Rockford, Illinois — a long-running local internet and networking company, known regionally through its Rock River Internet service and its roc-noc distribution business selling routing gear to ISPs and wireless ISPs.

What it's used for

• A single /24 (209.94.52.0/24), a direct ARIN allocation the company has held since 1997, alongside the AS number itself.
• The prefix carries no published reverse DNS, so its current use cannot be confirmed from the outside; the AS is announced but the space looks lightly used.

Notable

• ICD Group's two lines of business point different ways — an ISP heritage and a present-day hardware distributor for network operators — and with no rDNS to arbitrate, the honest reading is a small enterprise network rather than an active access provider. Confidence in any use-based label is low.
• Registered with ARIN in January 1997; the organisation record was refreshed in 2021, which reflects registry housekeeping rather than the number being reissued to a new holder.

Interesting

• Small Midwestern ISPs of this era routinely ended up as suppliers to the next generation of operators. The address space stayed put while the business changed shape around it.
