About this network

The network of Argentina's Ministry of Economy (Ministerio de Economía), registered from Hipólito Yrigoyen 250 in Buenos Aires. Despite the ARIN-era records, this is a LACNIC-managed government network.

What it's used for

• Government networking for the Ministry of Economy and the offices it hosts.
• Announces roughly 36k IPv4 addresses, all inside 168.101.0.0/16, with reverse DNS uniformly under mecon.gov.ar — the ministry's own domain.

Notable

• Government address space, not an ISP: the rDNS pattern (h168-101-x-y.mecon.gov.ar) is a flat, ministry-wide naming scheme, with no subscriber-style DSL or CGNAT hostnames anywhere in the block.
• The generic handle "Ministry of Economy" is easy to misattribute — the registrant address places it firmly in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Interesting

• A large legacy /16 held by a single national ministry is unusual outside the early-allocation era; the address space is used to number a national government department rather than to sell connectivity.
