About this network

UNIVERSITY-OF-HOUSTON is the campus network of the University of Houston, the flagship of the UH System and a major public research university in Texas.

What it's used for

• Campus connectivity for students, faculty and staff: teaching and research computing, residence-hall networks, and the university's public-facing services.
• It announces UH-NET — the legacy 129.7.0.0/16 — plus a 192.138.19x pair and an IPv6 /32.

Notable

• The 129.7.0.0/16 allocation dates to 1987, well before the AS number itself. Universities were among the earliest institutions on the internet, and many still hold class-B-sized blocks from that period.
• An institutional network, not an ISP: the address space serves one campus, so its addresses map to a single organisation rather than to paying subscribers.
