AS6949 — CHARLES-SCHWAB

AS6949 announces 20 IPv4 prefixes covering 26,112 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

CHARLES-SCHWAB is the corporate network of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., the San Francisco-headquartered brokerage and financial-services firm. This is an in-house enterprise AS, not a service provider.

What it's used for

• Announcing Schwab's own corporate and customer-facing infrastructure: the bulk of the routed space sits inside 162.93.0.0/16, a block ARIN registered to Schwab in 1992.
• Reverse DNS on the announced prefixes resolves under schwab.com, confirming this is Schwab's own estate rather than leased-out address space.

Notable

• A classic institutional-enterprise AS: a large legacy /16 announced as several dozen smaller prefixes, all pointing back to one company.
• The registrant address on file is Schwab's 211 Main Street, San Francisco headquarters.
• Financial-sector enterprises of this era commonly took direct ARIN allocations and their own AS number rather than riding a carrier's addressing, and this is a textbook example.
