About this network

KDO-AS belongs to Kommunale Datenverarbeitung Oldenburg (KDO), the municipal IT service provider for local authorities in the Oldenburg region of Lower Saxony, Germany. (The RIPE descr field reading Elsaesser Strasse 66 is the registrant's street address, not a company name.)

What it's used for

• Announces 194.76.64.0/19 — roughly 8,000 addresses serving KDO's own data centre and the town, city and district administrations it hosts systems for.
• Public-sector back-office IT: administrative applications, e-government services and the networks that connect member municipalities to them.

Notable

• Germany's kommunale Rechenzentren — shared municipal computing centres — are a distinctive feature of its public sector. Rather than each town running its own IT, member councils pool it into a regional provider like KDO. The address space therefore sits behind government users, not consumers.
• The RIPE object is maintained under an EWETEL-MNT maintainer, reflecting KDO's regional connectivity arrangements with the Oldenburg-based carrier EWE TEL.
