AS6405 — AIN
Network type: hosting
AS6405 announces 1 IPv4 prefixes covering 256 addresses and 3 IPv6 prefixes.
About this network
AIN is American Information Network, better known as AiNET — a data-centre and fibre operator founded in 1993 and headquartered in Beltsville, Maryland, in the Washington DC metro area.
What it's used for
- Colocation and data-centre services out of AiNET facilities in the Maryland / DC corridor, including customers in the government-adjacent market that clusters there.
- Fibre-optic network and IP connectivity for those hosted customers.
- Announces a mix of its own 205.134.160.0/19 legacy space plus prefixes carried out of upstream ranges, and IPv6.
Notable
This is hosting and colocation address space: the addresses sit in front of racks and customer servers, not households. Geolocation resolves to AiNET's Maryland facilities, and reverse DNS on the network's own infrastructure carries ai.net hostnames — including some old exchange-point naming that reflects how long the network has been peering.
An AS number below 6500 and a /19 of pre-CIDR-era address space mark AiNET as a first-generation commercial internet company, established before the ARIN registry existed in its current form.
