About this network

AS6056 (COLBY) is the campus network of Colby College, a private liberal arts college in Waterville, Maine.

What it's used for

• Campus networking for a single college: academic and administrative systems, residence-hall and classroom connectivity, and the college's public-facing web services.

Notable

• Addresses here are institutional, not consumer. They belong to students, staff and campus systems rather than to an ISP's subscribers, so traffic from this range typically originates on a university campus.
• It announces exactly one prefix, the legacy 137.146.0.0/16 — a full classful /16 for a college of a few thousand students. That ratio of address space to headcount is the signature of an early-1990s academic allocation, made when addresses were handed out generously and NAT was not yet the norm.
