About this network

TOBBETU-NET — the campus network of TOBB University of Economics and Technology (TOBB ETÜ) in Ankara, a private university founded by TOBB, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey.

What it's used for

• Campus connectivity: teaching, research, administration and student access across the university's Ankara campus.

Notable

• An institutional network. The address space belongs to the university itself, and Turkish universities generally reach the wider internet through ULAKNET, the national academic network.
• The low AS number is not early-internet pedigree. TOBB ETÜ opened its doors in the 2000s, and the registry record for this ASN dates from that period, so this is a number that reached its current holder long after the block was first issued.

Interesting

• The university is unusual in being founded and funded by a national chambers-of- commerce union, which shapes its economics-and-engineering focus and its co-op-style compulsory work placements.
