About this network

LVVWD — the Las Vegas Valley Water District, the not-for-profit public water utility that supplies drinking water to Las Vegas and surrounding southern Nevada.

What it's used for

• Corporate, operational, and public-facing systems for the district: billing and customer service, administrative networking, and the utility's own online presence.

Notable

• Government address space, not commercial: about 1,000 addresses used by a municipal utility for its own operations.
• The district also provides day-to-day management and staffing for the Southern Nevada Water Authority, the regional agency responsible for the area's wholesale water supply.

Interesting

• ARIN registered AS5026 in 1995 and the district's organization record dates to 1993 — an unusually early allocation for a water utility, from a period when the internet's institutional users were still a small club.
