AS3624 — DIGINEO-LWLCOM Freifunk Bremen

AS3624 announces 1 IPv4 prefixes covering 256 addresses and 2 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

The autonomous system behind Freifunk Bremen (digineo-lwlcom), the free community wireless network in Bremen, Germany, sponsored and operated with Digineo GmbH.

What it's used for

• Carrying traffic for Freifunk Bremen's community mesh: volunteer-run Wi-Fi nodes offering free, non-commercial network access around the city.
• Announcing the project's small IPv4 block and its IPv6 space, with transit from regional and international carriers.

Notable

• Non-commercial community infrastructure. Freifunk is a Germany-wide movement of local groups building free radio networks; Bremen is one chapter, and this ASN is that chapter's presence in the global routing table.
• Addresses here are shared community hotspots rather than individually billed broadband subscribers, which makes the space look unusual to geolocation and abuse-scoring tools.

Interesting

• The number is a low, legacy one now held in the RIPE region by a modern operator — the AS number outlived whatever first used it, so the low value says nothing about the age of the Freifunk project itself.
