AS15825 announces 1 IPv4 prefixes covering 512 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

A company whose registered name spells out a web address in words, written twice with a hyphen between.

What it's used for

• An internet company's network. One IPv4 /23 announced from Ghana, no IPv6, five hundred and twelve addresses, through a single observed BGP neighbour.

Notable

• The name string in the routing record is the company's full name, a hyphen, and the same full name again.
• That name reads as a country followed by the two words of a commercial domain suffix, spelled out rather than punctuated.
• The netname is an organisation handle generated by the regional registry, not a name anyone chose.
• The AS handle is the company's initials and the three letters for an autonomous system number.
• Five hundred and twelve addresses are announced as one route behind one upstream.
• Three addresses were queried for reverse DNS and none returned a name.

Interesting

• Naming a company after a web address was how businesses signalled what they did in the years when that still needed explaining. The suffix stopped meaning anything years ago and the legal name cannot be changed as cheaply as a logo.
• Five hundred and twelve addresses in a country's early commercial internet is a reminder that networks start small everywhere. The number was issued at the same time as ones now carrying millions of addresses.
