AS15534 — DATAMAX

AS15534 announces 1 IPv4 prefixes covering 256 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

The smallest routable block, announced alone, with everything else left empty.

What it's used for

• A company network. A single IPv4 /24 announced from Bulgaria, no IPv6, two hundred and fifty-six addresses, through one observed BGP neighbour.

Notable

• One block, one netname, and that netname is the company name with nothing added.
• The registrant list has two entries: the company and an abuse role, the minimum the registry expects.
• No IPv6, no second block, no fragments, and no reverse names at all.
• Three addresses were queried for reverse DNS and none returned a name.
• The routing history reaches back to the earliest records available with the shape unchanged.

Interesting

• Two hundred and fifty-six addresses is the smallest piece that can be routed globally, and running an AS number for it means the point was independence rather than capacity.
• With one upstream, that independence is partly theoretical. The usual reason to hold your own number is to speak to two providers at once, and this network speaks to one.
• Records this bare are worth noticing precisely because there is nothing to misread. Every field holds the value it should, and the network has not changed shape in the whole span of available history.
