AS15464 — IHLASNET

AS15464 announces 5 IPv4 prefixes covering 7,168 addresses and 1 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

Five routes carved out of one range, all under a single netname.

What it's used for

• A media group's internet arm. Five IPv4 prefixes and one IPv6 /48 announced from Turkey, seven thousand addresses, across three observed BGP neighbours.

Notable

• All five blocks come from the same part of the address space and all five share one netname, the country code and the company.
• Two of the blocks name the company in their registrant field and two do not, listing only a phrase about abuse usage.
• The pieces do not tile neatly: two larger blocks sit at the bottom of the range and three small ones are scattered above with gaps between them.
• Fifteen addresses were queried for reverse DNS and none returned a name.
• One IPv6 prefix of the smallest routable size, against seven thousand IPv4 addresses.

Interesting

• Announcing five routes from one range that a single larger one could cover is fragmentation with no benefit visible from outside, and the gaps suggest parts of the range are used elsewhere.
• Two registrant fields omitting the company is the more practical problem. Half this network has no named owner in the registry.
• A single small IPv6 prefix is the minimum a network can hold. It is present, which counts, but it is not a network anyone has moved onto yet.
