AS15306 announces 1 IPv4 prefixes covering 256 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

The identifiers name a company and the town its plant sits in.

What it's used for

• A printing and publishing company's network. A single IPv4 /24 announced from the United States, no IPv6, and two observed BGP neighbours.

Notable

• The AS handle and the netname are identical: the company name joined to a town name.
• Naming the site rather than the function implies other sites, each of which would take its own label, though only this one appears in the routing.
• The registrant is the company in full capitals, a formatting choice that follows the block wherever it is quoted.
• Three addresses were queried for reverse DNS and none returned a name.
• Two upstreams for two hundred and fifty-six addresses.

Interesting

• A netname that names a town is a small disclosure of geography. It says where the equipment is, which a prefix alone would not, and it will keep saying so long after the plant moves.
• Printing yearbooks and journals is a production business, so the network's job is to move large files between customers and presses rather than to serve the public. One block covers that.
• Two upstreams for one small block is redundancy bought for a deadline driven business. A print run that misses its date costs more than a second circuit.
