AS13733 — CENTRE-FOR-ADDICTION-AND-MENTAL-HEALTH

AS13733 announces 1 IPv4 prefixes covering 256 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

The registrant field carries a job title where most networks put a department or a role mailbox.

What it's used for

• A hospital and mental health research centre's network. 256 addresses in the single IPv4 prefix 192.197.205.0/24, two observed BGP neighbours, and no IPv6 announced.

Notable

• The block is netname CAMHV4NET, the institution's initials with the address family and the word for network appended.
• The registrant reads as the institution followed by a job title.
• The AS handle spells the institution's full name out in hyphens instead of abbreviating it.
• Three addresses were queried for reverse DNS and none returned a name.
• One prefix, one netname, one registrant, and nothing else in the inventory.

Interesting

• Naming the post rather than a role mailbox means the record points at whoever currently holds that chair. It stays accurate as long as someone remembers to update it when the chair changes hands, which is the failure mode a role address exists to avoid.
• A hospital announcing its own AS for a single /24 is buying route independence rather than capacity. Two upstreams for 256 addresses is a network that must stay reachable rather than one that must carry traffic.
• The handle and the netname disagree about how to write the same name: one spells every word, the other reduces it to initials. Both are in the same registry, describing the same organisation.
