AS13349 — TCU-NET

AS13349 announces 1 IPv4 prefixes covering 512 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

Four upstream neighbours for a single /23, which is redundancy bought instead of address space.

What it's used for

• The network of a United States credit union. 512 addresses in one IPv4 prefix, 204.156.122.0/23, four observed BGP neighbours, and no IPv6 announced.

Notable

• The AS handle is TCU-NET and the block's netname is TCU-I4-1001.
• Three addresses were queried for reverse DNS and none returned a name.
• First observed in the routing archive in July 2005.

Interesting

• The ratio here is the whole story. One small block and four separate upstreams means the organisation runs its own routing not to advertise more space but so that no single provider failing can take it offline. For a financial institution that is a compliance requirement as much as an engineering decision.
• The netname reads as initials, an address-family marker and a serial number that starts at a round thousand. Serials that begin at 1001 rather than 1 come from a system where somebody picked a starting point that would sort neatly and never be confused with a count.
• An empty reverse DNS sample fits a network whose public presence is a firewall and little else. Most of what a credit union runs faces its branches and its members through other people's platforms.
