AS13244 — RIETUMU-AS Location Riga, Latvia.

AS13244 announces 2 IPv4 prefixes covering 512 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

Two /24s from unrelated ranges, one netname, and hostnames that name the services behind them.

What it's used for

• The network of a Latvian bank. 512 addresses across two IPv4 prefixes, two observed BGP neighbours, and no IPv6 announced.

Notable

• The prefixes are 194.9.170.0/24 and 194.153.171.0/24, both netname RBINET.
• Sampled names are elink.rietumu.lv and vipl5.rietumu.lv.
• The AS handle is RIETUMU-AS Location Riga, Latvia., including the word Location and a trailing full stop.
• Both blocks list the bank, a hostmaster and an abuse role.

Interesting

• A handle containing the label of the field it is filling, plus a sentence-ending period, is what free text produces when a form asks for a description and gets a sentence. It is harmless and it is never corrected.
• The two published names are services rather than machines. One suggests an electronic-banking front end and the other a numbered member of a group, so a reader learns something about the estate from two lookups.
• The same netname on two blocks from unrelated ranges describes the holder rather than the allocation, which is the older convention. Blocks beginning 194.153. appear elsewhere in this range under entirely different owners in other countries.
