AS13011 — RA-MONITORUL-OFICIAL-AS Parcului nr. 65

AS13011 announces 1 IPv4 prefixes covering 256 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

A state gazette with its own AS number, and a street address where the handle should be.

What it's used for

• The network of Romania's official state gazette, the publisher of record for laws and decrees. 256 addresses in one IPv4 prefix, two observed BGP neighbours, and no IPv6 announced.

Notable

• The entire inventory is 91.209.123.0/24, netname RA-MONITORUL-OFICIAL, undated.
• The AS handle is RA-MONITORUL-OFICIAL-AS Parcului nr. 65, ending in a street address.
• Three addresses were sampled and none answered.

Interesting

• A street address in the handle is the seventh instance in this sweep. The field has no schema and no validation, so whatever an applicant typed decades ago is what the registry still serves, and a surprising number of applicants typed where they were sitting.
• A publisher of legal notices needs to stay reachable no matter which provider is having a bad day, which is the case for a small organisation holding its own AS number. Two neighbours is the minimum that makes an AS number worth having.
• The netname carries no date, unlike nearly everything around it. Undated bare netnames are the older style, so its absence is a rough age marker in a record that otherwise gives none.
• 256 addresses is the smallest allocation that can be routed globally, and it is all a publishing operation needs when the presses are not on the internet.
