AS12442 — PRO-TV-AS B-dul Pache Protopopescu Nr 109 Et 1

AS12442 announces 3 IPv4 prefixes covering 2,560 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

A Romanian television broadcaster, holding one block of its own and renting the rest.

What it's used for

• Broadcaster connectivity. 2,560 addresses in three IPv4 prefixes with three observed BGP neighbours and no IPv6 announced.

Notable

• Two of the three blocks are registered to IPv4 Management SRL, netnames RO-IPV4-20050113 and RO-IPV4-20090623. The third, 193.230.227.0/24, is netname PROTV and sits with a different contact entirely.
• The AS handle carries a street address in Bucharest: PRO-TV-AS B-dul Pache Protopopescu Nr 109 Et 1, floor number included.
• The one PTR in the sample is smtp04.protv.ro.

Interesting

• A company called IPv4 Management holding two of a broadcaster's three blocks is the address market made visible. Since the registries ran out, address space is leased and traded like any other asset, and the tenant appears in routing while the landlord appears in the registry.
• The 193.230 block is the older arrangement: early European space handed out through a national institute acting as the local registry, back when getting addresses in Romania meant going to the organisation that also ran the country's domain names.
