AS12193 — IMAGINE-COMMUNICATIONS - IMAGINE COMMUNICATIONS

AS12193 announces 2 IPv4 prefixes covering 512 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

A broadcast equipment maker, still registered under the name it traded as before the sale.

What it's used for

• Corporate connectivity. 512 addresses in two /24s with a single observed BGP neighbour and no IPv6 announced.

Notable

• Both blocks are registered to maintainer harrisbroadcast-mnt, and the netnames read US1HarrisBroadcast and HarrisBroadcast.
• The two prefixes, 156.43.58.0/24 and 156.43.60.0/24, are not adjacent. 156.43.59.0/24 sits between them and this AS does not announce it.
• The AS handle is the current name, IMAGINE-COMMUNICATIONS. Everything below it is the old one.

Interesting

• Harris Broadcast was the broadcast division of Harris Corporation, sold off to private equity and renamed. The company that makes the playout and transmission gear behind a great many television stations changed hands and changed names, and the address records changed at the top only. Netnames, maintainer handles and the underscore in US1HarrisBroadcast all survive the transaction.
• 156.43 is early class B space, from the years when a company like Harris was allocated address ranges by the block. What is announced now is two /24s out of it, which is the usual fate of that space: kept, subdivided, and mostly not on the public internet.
