AS10045 — TNUTNET-AS Hanbat National University

Network type: education

AS10045 announces 13 IPv4 prefixes covering 10,496 addresses and 0 IPv6 prefixes.

About this network

TNUTNET-AS is Hanbat National University in Daejeon, one of Korea's leading public engineering universities. The handle preserves its former name, Taejon National University of Technology — a reminder that a network handle records the institution as it was when the number was issued. The university traces to 1927, teaches over 10,000 students across five colleges, and sits in Daejeon's research belt alongside KAIST and the national institutes.

What it's used for

• Campus connectivity: student and faculty access across dormitories, lecture halls and engineering labs; the library and university portal; departmental and research servers; and the administrative network.

Notable

• Education, and the routing supports it independently of the name. RIS observes 18 IPv4 prefixes carrying 10,496 addresses behind only 2 observed neighbours.
• That ratio is the tell. Ten thousand addresses is a lot for an enterprise of this size but entirely ordinary for a residential campus, where every dorm room, lab bench and lecture-hall AP wants addressing — and Korean universities have historically had generous IPv4 assignments and put them to use rather than NAT everything. Two neighbours, meanwhile, rules out any service-provider role: a network with 10k addresses and only two adjacencies is consuming its space, not distributing it.
• The prefix list is a stack of /21s, /22s and /23s from several ranges (203.230.96.0/21, 220.66.144.0/22, 223.194.192.0/22, 210.110.248.0/22), the accumulation of decades of assignments to one campus.

Interesting

• No IPv6 is observed in routing here, which is common among Korean campuses despite the country's broader network maturity.
